During the 2017 Preseason Manager’s Meeting on March 12, 2017, the QCSL Executive Board presented changes to the QCSL Rules of Play to managers for consideration and vote.

The proposed changes were a result of feedback gathered from players, coaches, sponsors, and fans via the 2017 Preseason Survey and direct discussions.

The following rule-changes were approved by 2017 Managers’ majority vote:

  • Pitching/Strike Mats: Strike mats will be used for the 2017 season. Any legal pitch that lands on any part of the plate or the mat will be ruled a strike.
  • Gender Requirement: The requirement that there must be two (2) players of each gender in the field at all times has been increased to three (3) players of each gender. Extra hitter do not count towards the minimum.

In addition to the rule-changes brought up for vote, the Board also discussed the implementation of divisions in an effort to improve quality of play and overall competition. Due to feedback received through the 2017 Preseason Survey and communication with our members, the Board will be making the evaluation of this topic a priority for the 2017 season. Through monitoring games, standings, and overall player-satisfaction, the topic will be re-evaluated at the conclusion of the season for potential implementation in 2018.

The Board would like to sincerely thank everyone who responded to the 2017 Preseason Survey.

We will continue to survey our members in order to make sure that leadership is able to hear each voice of QCSL. Your opinions are extremely important to us, so we encourage you to contact us with any questions, concerns, or feedback.
